Web Design That Unifies a Nonprofit’s Brand Across Continents - VitalChurch Ministry
Categories: Web
VitalChurch Ministry is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Christian churches who find themselves in a time of transition. They offer diagnostic analysis to get to the real root of a church’s problems, bring in interim pastors to guide leaderless churches, and offer other important resources for churches and church leaders. Their staff of pastors includes some of the leading experts in church diagnostics and intentional interim pastoring in the nation.
Two Websites, One Great Organization
Modmacro previously designed the original VitalChurch website, which served them well for many years. Then, the nonprofit launched a division in the UK, and they decided to launch their own web presence, designed by a different web design firm. Unfortunately, it didn’t match the look and language of the main US site. This created a disconnect (at least online) between the two offices.
When it came time to update the ministry’s US site, VitalChurch asked us to redesign the UK site as well. They wanted to project a consistent brand online, despite the two offices being separated by an ocean. The result is two websites that are connected through unified web design and cohesive copy. The UK division also benefits from being clearly linked to the larger, more established US division.
What We Love About the New VitalChurch Ministry Websites
There’s so much to love about the VitalChurch Ministry websites! The information is clearly laid out, so visitors can quickly find exactly what they’re looking for. There is expanded information about their services, which not only outlines what they do, but also talks extensively about the “why.” The “Team” pages were also more fully developed in order to highlight the impressive qualifications of their pastors and other staff members. The new sites are also set up as better tools for fundraising, promoting events, recruiting new pastors to their team, and providing timely updates to visitors.
VitalChurch’s sites were built on a sophisticated software framework that aids performance, security, and SEO. The platform serves to support our ongoing technical SEO and content marketing efforts that attract targeted audiences.
All this information is surrounded by a clean, modern layout with warm imagery. This complements VitalChurch’s approach to ministry, which combines structure and stability with a heart of compassion and grace.
The Challenge
One of the challenges with designing and writing copy for the VitalChurch Ministry websites is that the sites need to appeal to several different audiences. Primarily, the sites need to speak to church leaders looking for the type of help that VitalChurch provides, but the nonprofit also uses their websites as fundraising tools. As such, they have to appeal to potential donors. In addition, there needed to be sections on the websites for those who may be looking to serve as interim pastors or volunteers with VitalChurch or attend one of their yearly training seminars. We believe we achieved a great balance with the web copy and the design—allowing the sites to serve multiple purposes and appeal to the differing, but equally important visitor types.
"One of the aspects of working with Modmacro that I most appreciate is that the level of collaboration is whatever I need/want it to be. There have been seasons where I have wanted to ask numerous questions and share ideas and there have been seasons where I need the team to take over and leave me out of all decisions except the most critical. Whichever place I find myself, Modmacro provides just what is needed without pressure. - Laurel Schumacher, Chief Operating Officer
