Sometimes I forget what it was like when I first started my company, and all the challenges that came along with creating something from nothing. In the process of writing this book, I was able to revisit each of the steps I went through and remember what is was like to be a new entrepreneur. This book is written specifically with the new entrepreneur in mind, and is the book I wish I could have read when I was starting my business.
Throughout Startup (that’s the name of the book), my co-author, Jessica, and I share stories and insights that help to illustrate what we did during various stages of the startup process, but we also share with you the benefit of hindsight. Hopefully, you’ll be able to learn from our missteps and our successes, and integrate them into your thinking and planning. Earlier this month, Matt Smith, Modmacro CEO, and author of the recently published book Kill the Noise, was a guest of honor at a Books & Brews event sponsored by the book’s publisher, Maven Publishing USA. The event also featured AVPA President Matthew Grisafe and his book, Our Code.
The event was held at Iron Fist Brewing Company, a family owned craft brewery located in the San Diego area. Attendees of the Books & Brews event were able to pick up a copy of Kill the Noise and Our Code and have them signed by their respective authors. Jessica Dawson, CEO of Maven Publishing, was also on hand to answer questions about the process of turning a business owner into a published author, and why a business owner might want to consider becoming one.
We’d like to thank all of Modmacro’s clients and friends who came out for the Books & Brews event. It was a fun night, with great beer and conversation. It was also a great night to connect with clients, celebrate the completion of the book project, and thank everyone who helped make it possible.
Learn more about Kill the Noise, now available from all major online retailers.
Kill the Noise was published on June 1st to all the major book retailers (see the list). Within days of the launch, my new book ranked on Amazon’s Bestseller list in two categories.
- Entrepreneurship & Small Business / Small Business
- Management & Leadership / Decision-Making & Problem Solving
Earning “Amazon Bestseller” status requires ranking amongst the top books for a specific period. And Kill the Noise has already made the list for several of those periods across multiple days. To better understand how Amazon tracks these rankings, here’s how they describe the Small Business Bestsellers list: Continue reading “Kill the Noise Makes Amazon’s Bestseller List” »
